My Research Insights
Mangrove Species Diversity and AGB in Bali
This study focuses on mapping mangrove species diversity and estimating aboveground biomass (AGB) in the Benoa Bay and Nusa Lembongan mangrove forests of Bali, Indonesia. We utilized high-resolution satellite imagery (WorldView-2 and Sentinel-2) and advanced machine learning algorithms.
The results indicated that Random Forest (RF) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithms achieved high accuracy in species classification. This research provides critical data for the conservation and sustainable management of Bali's vital mangrove ecosystems.
Spruce Forest Health in Slovakia
Investigating the resistance of Norway spruce (Picea abies) to bark beetle (Ips typographus) infestations under varying climatic conditions in Slovakia. This ongoing research employs a multi-sensor approach, integrating data from airborne LiDAR, hyperspectral, and thermal sensors.
The project aims to develop early warning systems for bark beetle outbreaks by identifying key physiological and structural indicators of tree stress. Our findings will support forest management strategies to enhance the resilience of spruce-dominated ecosystems in Central Europe.
Mangrove Ecosystem in the Gods Own Country "Kerala"
A comprehensive assessment of the mangrove ecosystems along the coast of Kerala, India. This research integrates satellite data with extensive field surveys to map the current extent and health of these critical coastal habitats, providing vital insights for conservation and policy-making.
